Dustin Mooney is a cybersecurity professional providing cyber forensic investigative services for Forensic Pursuit. Mr. Mooney's cybersecurity career began performing IT cybersecurity audits for government agencies. The skills learned through the audit and assessment process served as a foundation for understanding how to properly implement a cybersecurity program. Later, Mr. Mooney would sharpen his technical skills as a penetration tester and primarily a forensic analyst investigating data breaches. With this unique combined experience, Mr. Mooney understands how to utilize a risk-based approach to building a cybersecurity program and has seen what happens when things go wrong.
Mr. Mooney has had a successful cybersecurity career working as both a consultant and in an enterprise environment. He helped established the digital forensics unit within a nationally known cybersecurity consultancy company and was recruited to work overseas on the incident response team for a global energy producer. He has co-founded a cybersecurity startup and created products and services utilized by clients to reduce their risk.
Mr. Mooney prides himself in taking difficult technical concepts and breaking them down to a simplified and easy-to-understand state. As a forensic analyst, he often translates his findings that include technical digital artifacts to a clear picture of what occurred during an incident or breach.
